Cephalexin is an antibiotic and is mainly a cephalosporin. Cephalosporins have different generations, namely 1st, 2nd, 3rd. The 3rd generation is considered to be the most effective one of them. Cephalexin is the 1st generation. It functions by fighting against the different bacterial components and also is also employed to treat the upper portion of the respiratory, infections in the ear, skin and also in the urinary tracts. These are also used for many other doctor prescribed purposes. However, it should not be used without a recommendation from a doctor and neither should it be used in wrong dosages.
