Side-effects of Dilaudid:

Dilaudid or hydromorphone hydrochloride is applied to reduce severe pain. It can be taken orally or in the form of injection. The overdose of this medicine can result in several side-effects like:

  • Insomnia and weird dreams
  • Blurred vision
  • Double vision
  • Dry mouth
  • Itching and some other skin issues
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness
  • Flushing and tingly feeling
  • Feeling faint
  • Weakness and headache
  • Infrequent bowl movements
  • Loss of appetite, etc.

It is suggested that patients should consult with the doctor in case they experience any of above mentioned side-effects due to intake of Dilaudid.

What’s the main difference between Morphin and Dilaudid?

In terms of strength, Dilaudid is considered 3-4 times stronger, but it doesn’t cause as severe side-effects as morphine. Yes, Morphine is not as strong as Dilaudid, but it is the first controlled pain-reliever medicine. Morphine takes some time for reducing pain of the patients, while Dilaudid functions immediately and offers quick relief to the patients due to its properties of quick solubility. Patients may get addicted to intake of morphine, but dilaudid is not that addictive. Many health experts prefer use of Dilaudid over Morphine due to its good side.
